At Howden Automotive, mechanics isn’t just a job – it’s a lifelong passion. With over 22 years’ experience in the motor trade, our journey has been built on hard work, hands-on expertise and a genuine love for all things with an engine.

Before establishing Howden Automotive in 2021, I worked as the workshop manager at the very same garage. Taking over the business gave me the opportunity to shape it into something I truly believe in – a garage known not only for high-quality workmanship, but for honesty, transparency and straight-talk advice. When you bring your vehicle to us, you can be confident it’s in safe, knowledgeable hands.

My career began straight after school, studying for an NVQ in Motor Mechanics at Bishop Auckland College. Once qualified, I secured my first role at a local garage in my hometown, building practical experience from the ground up. I later became an MOT tester and motor mechanic at a long-standing garage in Northumberland, where I spent 14 years refining my skills across a wide range of makes and models.

Cars, bikes and anything with a motor have always fascinated me. That passion still drives everything we do today. Whether it’s routine servicing, MOT testing or more complex repairs, we approach every job with care, precision and respect for your vehicle.
